Where Flood Damage Costs Will Increase

The cost of flood damage to homes nationwide will increase by more than 50% in the next 30 years, the First Street Foundation estimates. Counties on the East and Gulf coasts will see the most dramatic increases.

Notes

Flood damage costs are equivalent to the average annualized loss (AAL) for at-risk properties. Properties are considered at risk for flood damage if they are in the top 1% of First Street Foundation's risk scale and experience structural damage. Residential properties include only properties with one to four units due to their eligibility for flood insurance.
