As Kelp Forests Disappear, Researchers Point To Climate Change

In 2008, satellite imagery of the Northern California coast showed lush kelp forests, a crucial ecosystem for marine life. By 2019, the vast majority had disappeared after a marine heat wave of abnormally warm water and an explosion of kelp-eating purple sea urchins.
