Free Health Insurance Plans Available to Nearly Half Of The Uninsured

Out of 29 million people who don’t have health insurance in the U.S., 13.3 million are eligible for Medicaid or some other zero-premium plan under the Affordable Care Act.

Notes:
(*) The federal Health Insurance Marketplace, or Marketplace, provides health care plans available under the Affordable Care Act.
(*) A platinum-like plan refers to a silver plan with little to no deductible. Since eligibility for it is based on income and the analysis does not reflect unemployment income during the pandemic, the number of those both uninsured and eligible for it is likely to be higher than shown.
