Ten Years Of Paper Production

The paper industry struggled in the past decade, but some sectors have fared better than others. Book paper and newsprint are down 38 percent and 62 percent, respectively. Aside from a brief dip due to the economic recession, containerboard (used for cardboard boxes) has remained steady. Tissue, less vulnerable to economic trends, grew slightly.

Book paper was measured by shipped weight. All other types of paper were measured by produced weight.
