How to read these charts

The top charts show how Americans voted in different types of counties. For example, in counties with an unemployment rate between 4.0% and 5.4%, 30% of voters chose Bernie Sanders.

The bottom charts show how each candidate's voting coalition split among different types of counties. For example, half of Joe Biden's votes came from counties in the bottom two quartiles of unemployment rates, while more than half of Sanders' did. Each candidate's section is sized vertically based on his or her share of the vote total so far.

Notes

Percentages may not add to 100 because of rounding and additional candidates.
