Family members accounted for a third of all border apprehensions in the past year. As of November, families represent the largest group of migrants caught at the border, surpassing the number of unaccompanied minors and individual adults.
Notes
U.S. Border Patrol refers to these as “family units.” Family unit is defined as the number of individuals (either a child under 18 years old, parent or legal guardian) apprehended with a family member.
