Annual inflation cools slightly to 8.2%, but core inflation accelerates in September

As measured by the consumer price index, over the last year headline inflation is 8.2% and core inflation is 6.6%. Headline inflation reflects price changes on all items, while core inflation excludes volatile food and energy categories.
