Members of the 119th Congress not running for reelection

As of Dec. 17, 2025, a record 10 senators and 44 House members have already announced they don't plan to run for reelection in their current seats — plus several more have died or resigned.

Notes
Dates for retiring lawmakers and those running for governor and Senate are the dates they announced their decision. Sens. Blackburn and Bennet are not up for reelection in 2026, but would resign their seats if they win their respective gubernatorial races. Rep. Sherrill resigned effective Nov. 20 after winning her race for governor. Rep. Greene will resign effective Jan. 5, 2026.
