Earthquakes of magnitude 3 and above

In 2023 and 2024, there were two earthquakes of magnitude 4.0 and above. In 2025, five earthquakes exceeded the 4.0 threshold.

The Richter scale measures earthquake magnitude based on the logarithm of the amplitude of seismic waves recorded by a seismograph. For every whole number increase on the scale (for example, from magnitude 3 to 4), the amplitude of the shaking increases tenfold, while the energy released increases about 31.6 times.
