The percent of the working population who said they were engaged in their work has increased since the Great Recession of 2008 but fallen in recent years since the start of the pandemic in 2020.
Notes The share of respondents falling into a middle zone, somewhere between "engaged" and "actively disengaged," has remained constant at about 50% since 2008 and therefore was not included in this chart.
