New Hampshire election results

The retirement of longtime New Hampshire Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen gave the state an open seat. Republican John Sununu, who represented the state in the Senate 20 years ago, is seeking to rejoin the chamber. His father and brother both served as Republican governors of the state. Sununu is facing Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas in the general election. The race is seen as leaning toward Democrats.

New Hampshire also has a governor’s contest — the state is unique in that it elects governors every two years — and Republican Gov. Kelly Ayotte is considered the favorite.
