Texas election results

Texas looms large in the battle for the U.S. Senate. The Republican nominee is scandal-plagued state Attorney General Ken Paxton, who topped the GOP incumbent in a primary with the support of President Trump, setting up a general election clash with Democratic state lawmaker James Talarico. The Paxton-Talarico race is now considered a toss up.

Republican Gov. Greg Abbott also seeks to fend off Democratic nominee Gina Hinojosa.

Texas Republicans kicked off the mid-decade redistricting fight between the two major political parties, so extra attention will be paid to the districts the GOP sought to tilt in its favor.
